Fantasy Football 3/4 Season Review
9 weeks through the fantasy season and we’ve already experienced the triumphs and defeats, the epic highs and lows of fantasy football.
With only four weeks left in the regular season and nothing guaranteed in terms of playoff hopes, every team will be fighting down the stretch for a chance at ultimate glory. Only two games separate 1st to 8th place, and every bye week, waiver wire pickup, and gutsy flex play will be the difference between the playoffs and consolation bracket. Let’s take a look how our contenders rank through ten weeks:
- Spicing It Up (Ricky):
Ricky has established himself as the team to beat throughout the regular season thus far, ranking first place almost every week thus far. With star players at nearly every position, it won’t be unlikely for Ricky to continue dominating the competition for the remainder of the regular season. While Josh Allen’s elbow injury has caused room for concern for Stefon Diggs’ production, players such as Patrick Mahomes, Derrick Henry, and Davante Adams can more than make up for the potential loss in points.
2. Ready to Get Hurts Again (David)
Did I wait until I ranked this high to be motivated to write something? Maybe. Even so, this is the highest I’ve ever ranked this late into the season, so let me have this one. Despite injuries to key players such as Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, and Elijah Mitchell at various points early in the season, I have found ways to stay afloat and win games. The emergence of Kenneth Walker III as a potential league-winning threat and the all-star duo of Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown will need to carry an otherwise average and lucky roster a few more weeks.
3. Dulciche de Leche (Jacob)
While he gets negative points for no longer having his team’s namesake on the roster right now, Jacob gets a boost for having a star-studded running back trio of Nick Chubb, Christian McCaffrey, and Aaron Jones, who was graciously donated to him by Dennis in exchange for a back-alley handjob in Austin, TX. A revolving door of tight ends and the implosion of Kyler Murray and the Cardinals may be the only question marks for an otherwise very potent roster.
4. Muth Bith Get out Thwey (Dennis)
After years of being volunteered as the league’s punching bag, Dennis may finally be able to ask “who’s laughing now?” while he dominates his way through matchups every week. Led by Lamar Jackson, Tyreek Hill, Dalvin Cook, and Josh Jacobs, Dennis’ team is no joke. 4th place through 9 weeks may only be the beginning for a team that has the high-end talent, but also incredible depth-pieces such as Rhamondre Stevenson and Michael Carter. The only thing that can stop Dennis at this point is himself.
5. Questionable (Jordan)
After a very rough start to the season, Jordan pulled off a streak of 9 straight wins (games + median) to let everyone know that he and his team are for real. It’s not a matter of beginner’s luck for our newest league-member. Drafting longer-term investments like DeAndre Hopkins have begun to pay off and supplement stars and emergent talents such as Austin Ekeler, Chris Olave, Deebo Samuel, and Cordarelle Patterson. The talent and makeup of this roster is definitely good enough for a top 3 finish by season’s end.
6. rise of dark brandon (Zach)
After flirting with first place after week 5, Zach and his team has failed to score over the league median for 4 straight weeks. The ever-dominant Cooper Kupp and rookie stud Dameon Pierce alone can be enough to drag Zach to victory, but the inconsistent play of players such as Gabe Davis, Leonard Fournette, and whichever QB he decides to play can bring down a once hopeful season. Even so, Zach is in playoff position and has proven that he can put up the points necessary to make a run in the final stretch of the regular season.
7. prodigysean (Sean)
The first time Sean isn’t picking tenth, he’s picking first. Unfortunately, the consensus first-overall pick in this year’s draft has been on a historically bad offense and injured. That’s life. There may be greener grass ahead, as Jeff Saturday, known lover of calling plays and running the ball, is taking over as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Josh Allen’s potential elbow injury is another cloud hanging over the head of Sean’s team, but all of Bills Mafia is ready to donate their elbow ligaments if it comes to it. Despite all that, Sean sits at 9–9 and is in a position to continue to fight for playoff position in the final 4 weeks of the regular season.
8. Amon A New Level (Michael)
Michael is the 4th 9–9 team in the league, and while that puts him at 8th place currently, it by no means rules out the playoffs. Joe Mixon, Jaylen Waddle, and Amon-Ra St. Brown all have league-winning potential, and once Ja’Marr Chase is back in the fold, it’s trouble. It’s up to Michael to make the right moves with his supplemental pieces in order to stay in the hunt.
9. Nash Money Heroes (Nash)
The closest thing to something going right for Nash this year resulted in a 3-way tie. That pretty much sums it up for 2-time champ and last year’s runner-up Nash. The resurgent Saquon Barkley and incomparable Justin Jefferson have tried their best to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders, but it just hasn’t been enough. A lot of things will have to go Nash’s way for a chance to sneak back into the playoffs.
10. Paid $52 for Eli (Benn)
Last year’s champion Benn has followed up his title run with an absolute stinker of a season so far this year. It’s hard to point out just one thing that has gone wrong this season for Benn, but much of it was outside of his control. Inconsistency, regression, injuries, you name it, and Benn has gone through it for the past 9 weeks. There have been fizzles of hope in recent weeks with a couple of high-scoring games, but at this point he can only hope to go on a miracle run and play spoiler for the teams ahead of him in the final four weeks of the year.
